British Science Week took place the week of 9 to 18 March 2018 at The Laurels School and a packed itinerary of activities were designed to really inspire and engage our pupils.
KS4 Science week (YR9 & YR10) were involved in crime scene investigations including soil testing, analyzing fingerprints, analysis of pen ink using chromatography, flame test and fibre analysis.
KS3 Science week (YR7 & YR8) enjoyed fun demonstrations included fireworks (flame tests), playing with fire and trying out various experiments with dry ice. They made a fire extinguisher, made lots of bubbles and got the water to change colour using an indicator.
Each group had a booklet with different combinations of ingredients to make various potions that bubbled, exploded balloons or changed colours (this booklet is attached).
