Y8 making Silver Crystals in the Lab

Y8 Laurels pupils being introduced to the world of elements and their reactions.  One of the key learning points in this topic is the understanding of the reactivity series and how elements that are more reactive displace those that are less reactive in what is known as a Displacement Reaction.  The girls made silver crystals by introducing a copper wire into a silver nitrate solution.  The copper reacts with the nitrate to form copper nitrate and silver crystals.
