We are delighted to announce new entry points of 13+ (Year 9) and Sixth Form with applications now being accepted for both in-year admissions as well as September 2018. The new entry points are in response to the interest we have seen from applicants in these year groups and in our aspiration to move to double-form entry in the near future. Music, Art and Academic Scholarships, up to 100%, are available.
The Laurels School does not reserve a set number of places for our entry at 13+ (Year 9). The number of places offered will vary according to the size of the cohort in Year 8 going through to Year 9. There are currently 6 places available for 13+ entry in September 2018. Bursaries as well as Music, Art and Academic scholarships are available to this entry point. Applications are considered throughout the year but those received prior to 1 January 2018 will be considered as part of the primary intake and be more likely to receive an offer.
The Laurels School welcomes external applications for entry into the Sixth Form. Pupils will typically undertake between three and four ‘A’ level courses. They will also participate in an enrichment programme which will include for example, leadership opportunities, an American exchange programme, support for UCAS applications and a careers programme. We will also be offering the Extended Project from AQA for those pupils who wish to prepare for it.
It is essential that candidates joining us in the Sixth Form are able to succeed in an academically demanding environment and, for that reason, we recommend the entry level into the Sixth Form as a minimum of 8 GCSEs at grade 5 and above, including English Language and Mathematics at grade 5 and above, and at least a grade 6 in each of the subjects to be studied.
