We're officially excellent

We’re delighted to announce the results of our recent ISI inspection. Independent School Inspectors visited us in February to examine our pupils’ achievements and personal development, and have judged The Laurels to be ‘excellent’ in both categories. 

The report recognised that pupils are motivated and enthusiastic with an outstanding work ethic and that results are 'above national standards for maintained schools'. It also commended the high expectations set by teachers, pupils’ excellent communication skills and the support given by teachers both in and out of the classroom. 

Headmistress Mrs Linda Sanders said, 'We are thrilled and delighted that inspectors have captured the school’s ethos so effectively within the report, recognising the outstanding work of our staff and pupils. 

‘Our focus on Character Development sets us apart from other schools and inspectors commended the development of pupils’ self-confidence and self-esteem, their great skills in self-reflection, and their strong personal characteristics based on the values of the school. 

‘Today more than ever our young women need the kind of education offered at our school where they can be nurtured from the inside out to become strong women who can take on life’s challenges.’

Mrs Sanders added: ‘I am fiercely convinced that what we do at The Laurels is unique in the UK: the tutorial system, the character education programme with its focus on developing virtue, the emphasis on servant-leadership and a committed staff who understand and try to live the vision.’
