Preparing for the Future
An important part of Sixth Form life is getting ready for the next steps. As well as enjoying a rich and challenging academic experience, and all the enrichment opportunities on offer to you, your teachers will help you to prepare for life beyond school.
University applications
Your tutor will assist you in making suitable choices and Miss Kreinczes, the Director of Higher Education, gives expert guidance. You will use leading online platforms to assist you in your decision-making and enjoy university and UCAS workshops and visits.
The Laurels has only had a Sixth Form for a few years, but our alumnae have gone on to achieve significant success.
Our University offers have included: University of Cambridge, Queen Mary University of London, University of York, University of Exeter, King's College London, University of London, University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, University of Leeds, University of Sheffield, University of York, University of Southampton, Durham University, The University of Edinburgh, University of Liverpool, University of Bristol and Newcastle University.
Career programme in the Sixth Form
Students benefit from a broad array of opportunities. You are given lots of assistance to help you visualise your future, so that you are motivated and purposeful in your approach to your studies. This all helps to lead you to success, whichever career and further education route you decide to pursue.
Our programme is designed to inspire you about your future career choices. There are lots of enriching activities to open your eyes to the world of possibilities. This includes regular talks by industry experts, comprehensive career advice, workshops led by professionals from diverse sectors, visits to various types of companies, and both on-site and external career and university fairs. Supported by our leading platforms, including UNIFROG and UCAS, you will be well-prepared to secure outstanding results, paving the way to your chosen future.
You might not know yet which career route you wish to follow, but you'll learn lots about the different opportunities across the working world to help you see the possibilities. We've visited Google, Nestle and Amazon, offered an intern course with Shell, and welcomed professionals from many different careers sectors to speak about their personal trajectory, interests and responsibilities. Work experience in Year 12 is your opportunity to explore potential choices and you will be given lots of support to prepare for this.
